San Felipe es un pintoresco puerto de pescadores, formado en su mayor parte por casas de madera; tiene un hermoso malecón a lo largo del estero, desde donde se puede admirar la belleza de la vegetación. Aquí principia el estero que corre paralelo a la costa, hacia el oriente, hasta el puerto de El Cuyo. En el lugar se pueden disfrutar excelentes platillos a base de pescados y mariscos, con especialidades a base de pulpo (en el verano).

Esta ubicado a 11 km al oeste de Río Lagartos por la carretera núm. 295, desviación a la derecha en el km 2.

En el puerto, las 28 embarcaciones de la sociedad Punta Bachul, que ofrecen el servicio para cruzar paseantes a la playa, ya están listas, y cinco restaurantes se reportan listos para las vacaciones de Semana Santa y Pascua.

San Felipe is a picturesque fishing village of wooden houses and laid back lifestyles. There is a charming promenade from which the view across the ria can be admired. On the opposite bank of the natural canal the thin strip of land rich in mangrove vegetation can be seen, and beyond that, the open sea. San Felipe is the point where the strip of land protrudes from the coast and stretches out eastward, parallel to the mainland towards El Cuyo.

The port of San Felipe has 28 small boats which ferry visitors across the ria to the lovely beaches facing the open sea every 10 or 15 minutes. This efficient service is provided by the Punta Bachul group and the departure point is at the far end of the promenade.

There are at least five excellent fish and seafood restaurants in San Felipe, which are busiest during the Spring vacation and again in the Summer, when diners can enjoy, among other specialties, the delicacy of locally caught octopus.

San Felipe is only 11 km west of Río Lagartos. Turn right off highway 295, 2 km after leaving Rio Lagartos.
